MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUNDS

A safe and effective diagnostic tool that can provide valuable information about the musculoskeletal system.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

At Rehab Wellness LA we are committed to providing patients with the latest in diagnostic and treatment options. Musculoskeletal Ultrasounds are one of the most effective diagnostic tools used at our clinic. The first Musculoskeletal Ultrasound was performed in the early 1980s, and since then, the technology has continued to evolve and improve. Today, Musculoskeletal Ultrasounds are widely used at our clinic as a safe and effective diagnostic tool.

What is a Musculoskeletal Ultrasound?

A Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and other soft tissues. It is a non-invasive, painless procedure that provides real-time images of the examined area. The procedure involves applying a gel to the skin over the area being examined, and then a handheld device called a transducer is used to produce sound waves that bounce off the tissues and create images on a screen.

The transducer emits high-frequency sound waves that penetrate the body and bounce back to the device. The transducer then collects the bounced sound waves, and a computer uses them to create an image of the tissues being examined. This image is displayed on a monitor in real-time, allowing your Rehab Wellness medical professional to see the internal structures of the body as they move in real-time. The Musculoskeletal Ultrasound procedure is non-invasive and painless, and it can be performed quickly and easily at Rehab Wellness.

Conditions Diagnosed

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound is a valuable tool for diagnosing a range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Tendonitis: inflammation of a tendon.
  • Bursitis: inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs that cushion joints.
  • Rotator cuff tears: tears in the muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome: compression of the nerves in the wrist.
  • Osteoarthritis: a degenerative joint disease that causes pain and stiffness.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: an autoimmune disease that causes joint inflammation.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound can also be used to guide injections into joints or soft tissues, providing precise and accurate placement of injections.

At Rehab Wellness LA, we use Musculoskeletal Ultrasound as part of our comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort, contact us today to learn more about how Musculoskeletal Ultrasound can help you achieve optimal health and wellness.
